Why TVTO

TVTO_FB_BannerIntegrity, compassion and enthusiasm are the driving forces behind the success of the practice.

Located centrally in the city of Toronto, with easy access by road or TTC, Toronto Vision Therapy and Optometry is defining itself as an office where integrity, compassion and enthusiasm are the driving forces behind the success of the practice. We love what we do and are proud to offer Vision Therapy to all patients, young and old.

Vision Therapy is widely practiced throughout the United States, and is an emerging therapy in Canada. Currently in the GTA only a handful of optometry offices offer in-office Vision Therapy as a treatment option for eye issues such as Amblyopia (“lazy eye”), Strabismus (“turned eye”), Convergence Insufficiency (the inability of the eyes to look at the same spot at the same time), Eye Teaming and Eye Tracking problems (the ability of the eyes to follow movement of an object) and visual perception problems (which can label a child as “learning disabled”). However this widely researched practice of “Eye Training” has been going on in Europe since the late 1800’s.

The ability to “teach” the eyes to see – to train or retrain the visual system, which involves both the mechanics of seeing and the interpretation of vision – is what Vision Therapy is all about. In years past many people had surgery on the muscles of the eye to straighten a turned eye, or secure a lazy eye, but unless the newly affixed eye was taught how to properly see and integrate the information it was gathering with that of the other eye, the muscles would slacken again to help turn off the information coming from the ‘lazy eye’ and surgery was often repeated throughout the lifetime. With Vision Therapy, not only are the eyes taught to point in the same direction, but the brain is also taught to combine the picture from the right and left eye together so that a person can see in 3D. In many instances, this can replace the need for eye surgery. Once taught to see, the eye will never be “lazy” again!

The passion to help people live their lives to their maximum potential through the ability to properly see, is the driving force behind the team at Toronto Vision Therapy and Optometry.

The passion to help people live their lives to their maximum potential through the ability to properly see, is the driving force behind the team at Toronto Vision Therapy and Optometry. We are the coaches, the cheering section and your most enthusiastic partner in achieving strong and perfect vision to the best of your eyes’ abilities. Whether you feel your vision has always given you difficulties (“words move on the page”), or there was damage to your visual system due to illness or injury (think concussion, stroke), or perhaps your visual system works great and you’re an elite athlete and want to work to enhance the system further, we are your team.

With dedication and commitment on behalf of the patient, and a willingness to “do the work”, we will partner with you to achieve your greatest success possible. Once the initial assessment is complete, and before the first session begins, we sit with our patients and set goals… some as simple as “I want my eyes to be straight” and “I want to be able to read without a headache” all the way to “I want my child to have confidence and enjoy all that life has to offer”. With passion, integrity and a whole lot of fun, we do our best to make sure all goals, big and small, are met.

Thank you for choosing Toronto Vision Therapy and Optometry. “The Vision to Change Lives”.
